The dialogue event on “Building City Resilience through a Just and Equitable Transition” was successfully hosted by C40 cities, the South African Presidential Climate Commission, the South African Local Government, and the city of Johannesburg. As the appointed PR agency responsible for managing media relations and external communications, ACG played a crucial role in localizing key messaging, FAQs, a press release, and an Op-ed.
The event garnered significant attention and participation, with the executive mayor of the city of Johannesburg, Kabelo Gwamanda, in attendance. The dialogue aimed to address the pressing need for a just and equitable transition towards building city resilience in the face of climate change and other environmental challenges. China Global Television Network, Engineering News, and the Caxton Media Group were among the media outlets that actively participated in the event. These outlets engaged in insightful discussions and covered various aspects of the dialogue, highlighting the importance of city resilience and the need for equitable approaches to addressing climate change.
ACG has secured 10 media outlets to attend the event however due to the news cycle on the day the focus was on court cases and the Proudly SA event which had the attendance of high-ranking government officials. To counter the low attendance, the media toolkit and the press release were shared ensuring that the key messages and outcomes of the event reached a wider audience.
The dialogue event served as a platform for knowledge-sharing, collaboration, and the development of strategies to enhance city resilience. It emphasized the importance of considering social equity and justice in transitioning towards sustainable urban development. By bringing together key stakeholders and media outlets, the event successfully raised awareness and generated momentum for building resilient cities.
