Group Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder
Equipped with more than 18 years of experience in the communications sector, Mimi was responsible for the African expansion of a major global public relations firm before co-founding ACG. She has built a solid network of affiliates and partners across the continent. She was part of the team that led the award-winning Barclays Africa “Prosper” campaign and the AU’s campaign against Ebola. Mimi sits on the Africa Brand Counsel, and is the Rebranding Africa Champion for Africa 2.0. She was nominated for the Women4Africa Awards 2016 as a finalist in the International African Woman of the Year category. Her e-book, Talking to Africa: Considering Culture in Communica8ons for a Complex Continent, was released in January 2017. Mimi is an Archbishop Desmond Tutu Leadership Program Fellow.
Addis Alemayehou is the Co-Founder of ACG and the founder and CEO of 251 Communications in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Addis is also a co-founder and shareholder of KANA TV, a private Entertainment TV Station in partnership with MOBY Group based out of Dubai. Mr Alemayehou is a founder and shareholder of Africa Communications Group (ACG) based in Mauritius. Addis served as Chief of Party of the VEGA Ethiopia AGOA+ project. The project was a USAID funded private sector support program with a mandate to increase two way trade between the US and Ethiopia. As a result of his long standing service, Addis was awarded a Distinguished Service Award from the US Department of State for providing service above and beyond the call of duty. Addis has presented at the Global Diaspora forum in the State Department, The AGOA forum as well as numerous speaking engagements in the past. Addis served on the founding Board of ICTET the private sector ICT association in Ethiopia, within the board Addis was responsible for PR/Marketing as well as overseeing the associations work with the Ethiopian Diaspora community. He also serves on the board of the African Leadership Network, the network is the premier gatherings of the “Next” leaders of Africa who coverage once a year to share ideas and promote inter Africa cooperation.
Nonye Mpho Omotola
Nonye is a Communications & Brand Specialist with over 15 years’ strategic brand experience gained in the UK, South Africa and Nigeria and contributes to a number of African media titles. With strong media relations in South Africa and the rest of Africa, her key skills include the development of communication strategies, key messaging , account/project management, and identifying key media for PR and thought leader positioning. Nonye started her career in London at Maynard Leigh Associates; followed by TMP Worldwide and has worked in a number of leading firms in Europe and in other parts of Africa including Jupiter Drawing Room, Johannesburg; FCB, Durban; and Insight Grey, Lagos, where she was Director of Strategic Planning and New Business and until recently Business Director, Africa, at Vuma Reputation Management. Nonye was also the Group Head of Corporate Communications at Oceanic Bank Nigeria, (now Ecobank).
Lead: Workshops, Training and Business Development
US-trained Peter Rolland is a professional communications and marketing veteran. Peter gained industry experience working on Madison Avenue, New York, for the Papert Koenig Lois advertising agency. Peter built his substantial industry experience by working for local and major international networks including Grey, Ogilvy, Saatchi & Saatchi, DDB, Publicis Group and local brand activation specialist, the Zinto Marketing Group. He also ran his own communications consultancy for a number of years. His client management experience has involved managing the communication for major companies such as Unilever, P&G, SABMiller, Nestle, Tiger Brands, J&J, Citibank, Tanzanian Cigarette Company and Alliance One Tobacco amongst others. Peter has worked extensively across sub-Sahara Africa and the Middle East including managing the Y&R office in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania and being contracted to Publicis West Africa based in Accra, Ghana.
Lasi is a PR professional responsible for the day-to-day management of a variety of accounts at ACG. Her clients include Suguba (Mali and Cote D’Ivoire), Michelle Adelman and GoFresh! (Botswana and South Africa), the Africa Innovation Summit (Rwanda), AFIG Funds (Senegal), and and ONE Campaign (South Africa). With 5 years PR experience, Lasi’s expertise is media relations and digital reputation management.
Social Media Manager
Alvin is based in Kigali, Rwanda. Before joining ACG, he worked with Metropolitan Republic Uganda, one of the top advertising firms in the country and the East African Region. While working at Metropolitan, managed social media accounts for MTN Uganda, Shell and the Sheraton Hotel Kampala. He later moved to Rwanda where he worked with the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS). At ACG, Alvin manages social media accounts and outreach for AFIG Funds, Nesta, ASLM, the Southern Africa Structured Trade Seminar and the African Innovation Summit (AIS).
